Zinnias - NFS

8.5X11" Ink on paper. (From my sketchbook). Woke up this morning and while my cup of coffee was brewing, ran outside and cut a new bunch of zinnias. It's a happy event. I cut the zinnias as long as I can and then take off all the bottom leaves and give to my wild bunny. He gets so excited to have some fresh greenery in his cage. Put the flowers in a hand thrown wood fired vase and then relaxed sipping coffee and sketching my new present to myself. Everybody should have a zinnia garden! And everybody should find ways to give themselves little free gifts.

Wild Cone Flower - SOLD

5X7" watercolor on acid free paper. This wild cone flower was found in the swamps off the road in Stephensville. It was painted with a special person in mind. A dear student and friend who has had to move on from this area. We will miss you Arlette!

Iris - $25.00

5X7" watercolor on acid free paper. I've got a few different sketches coming today. Looks like I'm on a bit of a roll with this. And, whallah! My mind has spun around to an idea I had a while ago. Working out the logistics of it. I'm just so happy my creative mind has been infused.

Funky Fun Flower - SOLD

5"X7" watercolor on acid free paper. Kind of went a little nuts with the dots on this one. As you all well know, I have some kind of obsession with dots. I don't know, it feels kind of sixties to me.

Water Lily Card - $25.00

7"X5" watercolor on acid free paper. It's the craziest thing. But, just doing a small painting a day gets the creative side of my brain stirring. I was tossing and turning last night with images of paintings that actually have nothing to do with flowers or watercolors. Watching the colors flow from my hand through the paint brush and onto the paper... just wakes up my mind.

Marigold Card - SOLD

5"X7" watercolor on acid free paper. I will continue doing a series of these cards until the paper is all gone. These are marigolds from my garden. I actually buy seeds at the end of the season for very cheap and throw them here and there throughout my garden. You really never know what is going to pop up next. Kind of amazing that I have an instinct for what is a weed verses some kind of new flower popping up. It was brought to my attention that I needed to label, somewhere, on the card that this is a one-of-a-kind hand painted original by Colleen Shannon. I think I will write in on the very back of the card, so it doesn't accidently get thrown away. Thanks for your input people!

Flower Card 2 - $25.00

5"X7" watercolor on acid free paper. I'm posting this one along with the other one, because it is actually the same composition as the first. I decided to take the ink sketch out and try focusing more on simplifying the elements in the painting. I will try to at least keep something coming you way, mainly to keep my creative juices flowing. And, hey! You need some creativity in your life as well.

Flower Card 1 - $25.00

5"X7" Watercolor and ink on acid free paper. I've been very busy with pottery and jewelry. Several new exciting creative things happening in both of those departments. But, I miss my painting. I really want to paint again. But, when? So, I decided to just start with something small to get my creative juices going again in the painting department. I found these boxes of acid free watercolor paper cards that come with envelopes and decided to kill two birds with one stone. I'm using something that's been hanging around for a very long time and I'm back into sketching. I don't know why, but nothing gives me more joy than painting flowers. I don't care how down you may be when you start, by the time you're done, you're feeling great! Again. This is a card. You can open it up and actually write a note to someone. What a great way to give original art to someone. Just write Happy Birthday on the inside. The can tear off the front and frame it! It comes with an envelope.

Carolyn and Bishop Shean's house. Thanks for sharing Carolyn!

One Stem #13 - SOLD

5.5" X 15" mixed medium on cotton paper. Spring has sprung in Louisiana. I've been spending many hours outdoors getting the garden planted and flowers are popping up everywhere. It makes my heart happy to paint flowers. So, I do! I've got one stems in the making. You'll see a new each day over the next few weeks. Someone sent me a photo of the "one stem's" hanging in the their house that I'm going to share with you. I was so excited to see my work framed and happy hanging in a home that it inspired me to -get on it- and do some more. So, I'm asking a little favor. If you've got art work of mine hanging in your house, will you take a snap shot of it? I will post it to my blog. Thanks! and Happy Spring!
