Cypress - SOLD

11X15 watercolor on cotton paper. Went to a "Cochon de lait" (pig roast) on the bayou Teche on Sunday. Did several paintings that day which I'll be posting. Also took some pictures of some interesting faces I saw there. I am going to explore doing more portraits. I do love people watching and painting people. I forgot to mention in the last posting about the sale of the Episcopal Church painting. (you can see in an earlier posting) My heart grew big as it sold for $575.00, all of which went to feeding the poor at Solomon House. This brought me great happiness!

Roses Cafe II - SOLD

15"X11" watercolor on cotton paper. When I got back to the studio I took what I liked about my sketch and expanded on that. I'm always torn between simplifying or adding elements to my paintings. I guess like the black and no black I'll go back and forth till I find "me" with my painting.

Roses Cafe - $150.00

Shadows Entry - SOLD

11X15 watercolor on cotton paper. Well the building and not building and coordinating of the deck has really put a kink in time for my creativity. Paul - $60.00

7X10.5 watercolor on cotton paper. Another in my quick draw tv portrait personalities. I was just really digging this guys tie! and then his grey on grey which was happening with his hair and the background. Hard to focus on issues being discussed when you're constantly contemplating patterns and colors. I'm thinking I would love to do a huge portrait with bold strokes.

Linda, no Laura - $60.00

10.5X8 watercolor on cotton paper. Decided to do a couple quick draw tv portraits. I thought this commentator was Linda, but found out later she was Laura. So.. I'm calling her Linda, no Laura. I love doing these quick sketches, as it helps me to break loose of the tediousness of reality. Loving the colors, loving the lines.

Shadows on the Teche - SOLD

15X11 watercolor on cotton paper. This is the backside of the plantation house looking through the gardens. We were lucky enough to get there in time to paint the Azaleas. I don't think they will stay this pretty for much longer.

Bench at the Shadows - $150.00

11X15 watercolor on cotton paper. My painting buddy (Becky) and I signed up for the "Painting en Plein Air" paint out at the Shadows on the Teche. Shadows on the Teche is an old plantation house with wonderful gardens on the bayou Teche. This weekend was our first attempt at painting there. This is the first painting. I am hoping to get out there at list once a week over the next six weeks. It was a fabulously relaxing and fun day. And! Garden/landscape painting is quite the challenge.
