Nude

Went to my first (in New Orleans) figure drawing class. What fun! I was in my element. I love New Orleans and what it has to offer artist.

Crawfish - $60.00

22x15 hand tinted acrylic silk screen from a block print. Pulled out some old screens to revive. While I love the graphic simplicity of these older cuts, I do like the energy happening in the newer blocks. Kind of cool to see my progression. These are a bit easier to paint, thus the lower price.

Catfish - SOLD

22x15 handtinted silkscreen of blockprint.

New Orleans Wild Rooster. $100.00

16x24" acrylic image on 22x30" acid free archival water color paper. Handpainted silk screen of block print.

I am so pleased to present my newest block print. You may remember my posting of the wild rooster which travels through the neighborhood acting as sporatic alarm in the mornings. I decided to carve him. I then blew him up poster size and did larger silkscreens. I love the new large size!

Wildflower Unknown.

Anybody know the name of this crazy wildflower? It's about the size of a quarter with hundreds of tiny multicolored flowers, maybe a quarter inch in diameter, that make up the one. I remember the first time I ever saw one. I was probably three or four and thought I had discovered something truly fabulous. What's the name?

Jennifer

Ipad sketch using Sketchpad. (I think) Went to an art seminar with Becky "Zora" Bergeron and got my first taste of sketching on an IPad. I've been wanting an IPad for some time now, specifically for this purpose. It was fun. This is the wonderful person demonstrating Ipad usage. Great weekend!

Pear. Yum.

Sketch from sketchbook. You know. I'm having the hardest time translating from my sketchbook to the canvas. I REALLY like the spontaneaity of my sketches. Even the mistakes and notes. Something sometimes just gets lost in translation. Change in medium? Loss of spontaneity because it is a final product? I may have to put a time limit on myself for the paintings to help capture spontanaeity. I'll send "pear painting" tomorrow. Though... I may have to go mess it up.

Cock-a-doodle-doo. Sketchbook sketch.

This fellow roams around the neighborhood acting as a sporatic alarm clock. I really moved by the wils chickens of new orleans.

MisBelief Book Cover

My current sketchbook is covered in white canvas. Needless to say after several months of hanging around it was getting quite filthy. So, I painted it. I believe this year could be titled "MisBelief". I loved that word the minute I heard it.

Three dog night

Working on a series of small paintings 12 x 12. They are really composition/color tests for ideas in my head. They may be for sale at a later date.

My favorite cup.

A few of my favorite things. This very bohemian looking cup. And hand hammered spoon. Have you noticed the new thing in the stores is this bohemian style dishes that don't match. Every dish is different but they look good together. Just my style, though I will not be buying dishes.

Hopefully I will figure out how to get better pics. For now I will be sharing pics from my sketchbook. And down the line small paintings from a self imposed project that I'll be working on. At some point I may have a flower power fundraiser to get my deck built. But, that will be later.

Planted crepe myrtles yesterday.

Hey everyone. I'm trying something new. I'm trying to post directly from my phone. The pics of my art won't look quite as good. But, now that I have some modern and well ancient comforts of home, I plan to start painting and posting more often again. The last year was a rough one. They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. And I'm feeling pretty strong! The move to New Orleans was the right thing to do. I love my new home already! If this works, I'll start posting again. Fingers crossed.

"Jazz" - Mini Block Print - $10.00

3" X 4" Block Print Image handtinted on approximately 4" X 5 1/2" cotton paper. Wow. Long time no see. As most of you know, I've spent the last 6 months making the transition/move from Morgan City to the Big Easy - New Orleans. I'm not sure why they call it Easy... because it has not been. I spent the longest coldest winter of my life (and just when is it going to warm up?) sleeping on an air mattress and learned the meaning of "a three dog night". I was never one to sleep with my dogs until this winter. My computer monitor died in the cold, but lucky me! met a new computer savvy friend who taught me to just hook up the Big Screen tv to my computer. I immediately went to color correcting 42 files at one time! I knew life was smoothing out a bit when I found myself one day filled with gratitude for all my siblings and family and close friends who have helped me out in so many ways imaginable over these past six months. I also had a mind explosion in my sketch book. Yes! my creativity is coming back! In order to try to meet a lower price point on the streets of New Orleans, I've started carving out these New Orleans/Louisiana Mini Block prints. Each one is hand printed and then hand tinted. Over the next few days I'll be posting one each of the different blocks. I paint them in many different colors and will take color request for a minimal fee or if you want to buy a collection. Keep your eyes out for what's to come!
