Computer Down!

Hey everyone. I put my computer to sleep when I left for my trip and it will not wake up! This also means that my studio phone is not working, since it is an internet connection. If you need to reach me, please call my cell 985.518.0089. Please call me if you are interested in taking Monday morning or Monday night pottery classes! They are starting next week. Thanks for keeping up with me. Colleen

Hot out the kiln!

Preparing for my sale in Texas! Popped these wonderful babies out the kiln this morning. I hope this is a prelude to the wonderful time I'm hoping to have with friends old and new on my trip. I love them so much I think I will do more for Christmas sales. So, stop by the studio often from now to Christmas to see What'sNew!

My First Window

Happy Fourth of July. While all of you were drinking beer and cooking on the barbie, I was finishing my stained glass project. Got all the pieces soldered together today. I am very pleased! I can't wait to wake up to this beauty every morning. You really have to see it in person and see the chocolate in the browns to have an understanding of its true beauty. I'll be refinishing the window and installing soon. Can't wait to show it in place. Thanks again, Laureen, for pushing me through this. You are a great teacher!

Stained Glass Project

My first day in stained glass class. Wanted to share my little bit of joy. I am taking my first stained glass lessons with Laureen Nunez. I found this old window and designed a geometric kind of pattern that carries through from one window to the next. And I actually got three panes done in one class! I'm so excited. This window will fit above the door leading from my bedroom to outside. What a beautiful thing to learn how to do. Thanks Laureen! (Of course the colors here do not do the real piece any justice.)

Pediatrics Clinic Murals

Quick snapshots of the work done at the pediatrics clinic in my hometown. The flower boxes should be filled with large gerba daisies... still looking for them. I painted the four murals on either side of the windows. Brother, Neal did all the wonderful craftsmanship with all the 3-dimensional work and painting of them.

Below you will find details of some of the images on the mural. I've painted big paintings before, but never in this time restraint. I've gotten compliment after compliment on the free usage of paint strokes. Hope these happy creatures make a child filled with joy when they walk in, perhaps not feeling so good.

Got a wall you want painted? Give me a call!

Red Cypress

24" X 24" Acrylic on Canvas. What can I say? Inspiration is the rust orange of the cypress trees in the winter. Getting a bit more abstract on you. Paint is so much fun.

Spring Swamp

48" X 24" Mixed Medium on Canvas. This one's a bit bigger. I really love painting on big surfaces. Just makes such a powerful statement when in it's presence. I bought more canvases this size after painting this. Off to the Pediatrics center to paint whimsical trees and animals for children to ponder. I'll definitely show pics when done.

Black Swamp

Mixed Media on Canvas. Black Swamp to go with Swamp Grass as promised. I think I will start painting my murals for the pediatric center today. How exciting is that? Spent the day yesterday on the wheel, because I WILL try, once again, to get a beautiful cone 6 red glaze. If anybody has that recipe... please share! Will I have time for my own painting? can never tell. Have a great week.

Swamp Grass

20" X 20" Mixed Medium on canvas. The grass before the black swamp, which will be posted tomorrow. One in a diptych, but also work as stand alone. I'm so excited... I got my herb garden in this weekend. Nothing to do with my painting, but was very therapeutic.. which could lead to some great creativity!
