New year. New wall.

Exploring into the world of the unknown. Huge canvas hung and primed with spontaneous colors without a clue where I'm going next. And, this is what I call adventure!

Nude

Went to my first (in New Orleans) figure drawing class. What fun! I was in my element. I love New Orleans and what it has to offer artist.

"Jazz" - Mini Block Print - $10.00

3" X 4" Block Print Image handtinted on approximately 4" X 5 1/2" cotton paper. Wow. Long time no see. As most of you know, I've spent the last 6 months making the transition/move from Morgan City to the Big Easy - New Orleans. I'm not sure why they call it Easy... because it has not been. I spent the longest coldest winter of my life (and just when is it going to warm up?) sleeping on an air mattress and learned the meaning of "a three dog night". I was never one to sleep with my dogs until this winter. My computer monitor died in the cold, but lucky me! met a new computer savvy friend who taught me to just hook up the Big Screen tv to my computer. I immediately went to color correcting 42 files at one time! I knew life was smoothing out a bit when I found myself one day filled with gratitude for all my siblings and family and close friends who have helped me out in so many ways imaginable over these past six months. I also had a mind explosion in my sketch book. Yes! my creativity is coming back! In order to try to meet a lower price point on the streets of New Orleans, I've started carving out these New Orleans/Louisiana Mini Block prints. Each one is hand printed and then hand tinted. Over the next few days I'll be posting one each of the different blocks. I paint them in many different colors and will take color request for a minimal fee or if you want to buy a collection. Keep your eyes out for what's to come!

New Orleans Shot Gun Houses (six up) - $300.00

Image size is 9"X36". Paper size is 11 X 38. Ink and watercolor on 100% cotton paper. I finally finished one with all six houses up on one piece of paper! So, I had to post. The image is a bit blurry, so I may have to repost. I do think the colors here are more vibrant and feel more indicative to the real colors used. It is just so exciting to see them all together.

Blue Balcony - SOLD

Green Two Door Brick - $50.00

Camel Back Art House - Orange $50.00. Ink and watercolor on cotton paper. Image size 6X9, paper size 7.5X11.25. The colors here are really a burnt orange and a vibrant light orange.
Two Story Balcony - Green $50.00. Ink and watercolor on cotton paper. Image size 6X9, paper size 7.5X11.25.
Three Door Spindle - Purple SOLD. Ink and watercolor on cotton paper. Image size 6X9, paper size 7.5X11.25.
Three Door Cottage - Blue $50.00. Ink and watercolor on cotton paper. Image size 6X9, paper size 7.5X11.25.
Two Door Cottage - Gold $50.00. Ink and watercolor on cotton paper. Image size 6X9, paper size 7.5X11.25. The color of the house here is a more golden yellow and the flowers are a light orange.
Two Door Brick Column - Red $50.00. Ink and watercolor on cotton paper. Image size 6X9, paper size 7.5X11.25. The colors are really a beautiful brick red and a reddish pink on the boards. Seriously looks nothing like the photo. My camera is just not capturing reds and the computer is not showing reds.

Shotgun Houses Hanging

I've now carved out six different shotgun houses. I've decided to hand print the series in different colors and then hand tint them in different colors, making each one unique and different. The series are selling for $50.00 a piece. I'm also printing them all up together in different colors as well. This is in progress. I will post once I have them done. For now I will be hand tinting six of the onesies at a time and posting. Please note! The colors are so vibrant and extraordinary, it was impossible for me to catch it on film. You must come in and see for yourself. Where the colors are quite different, I will make a note.

Shotgun House V - SOLD

Oil based inks and watercolor on 100% cotton paper. Image size 24" X 9". Paper size varies approximately 2" over image size on all sides. This one was painted in brighter colors than the previous ones. I've got this idea for doing them in very vibrant colors, almost pop artish looking. When I find some time I'll try a batch like that.

New Orleans Shot Gun Houses

Well, I finally did it. I've had this idea for some time to cut out block prints of the New Orleans shot gun houses and print in different colors. The first one posted is the blocks printed in different earthy colors next to each other without any hand tinting/painting on top. Below that is different variations with handpainted water color on top. I figured while I'm anxiously waiting for the logistics of my arrival in New Orleans, I might as well submerge my creativity to that environment. I would like to cut out at least another four blocks. I think it would be especially cool to see four foot of houses all printed up on one long piece of paper. These are two foot across. I've already had a request and presale for houses in greens and blues, thus the pallette below.

Tiger Lily - SOLD

48" X 48" Oil on Canvas. As stated before.. so much of the detail and subleties of values are lost in these photos. I really love these two paintings.

Red Zinnia - SOLD

48" X 48" Oil on Canvas. This photo really doesn't do this painting or the next justice.

Nude Reclining - SOLD

48"X48" Oil on Board. I may take another photo of this one in morning light, as I don't think the detail shows up like I would like. I actually sketched this lady out ten years ago, and didn't know until now exactly what I wanted to do with her. Painting her brought back memories of my upstairs studio in San Antonio.

I don't think the photo of the painting allowed any of the blues to show. This blue pillow actually wouldn't look out of place in reality.
