Second Line Sketch - NFS

Ink on paper. I am working on a large painting that will be called Second Line. Those of you from the Louisiana area know what I'm talking about. Since this huge painting will take a while to finish, you will have to be happy with this preview. I thought it might be fun for you to see some beginning thoughts.

Last Dance with Mr. Greenwood - $400.00

24" X 48" Acrylic on Canvas. I had a lot of great dances in that dress. But, the one that came sweeping over me today was the last dance I had with my very first art teacher, Mr. Greenwood. God bless him for passing on the inspiration to paint. I am again seeking the spontaneity of my sketches. I believe this one has done it. I'm not sure if I'm completely done... but, I like it.
As you can see... this lady is big!

Bird Dance (revised) - SOLD

20" X 20" Mixed Medium on canvas. Now that I'm developing a technique that I like... I am going into some of my older paintings and updating them. I will continue to make revisions to these paintings till I feel I've found the grouping I want to submit to the competitions. I think this painting really came to life with these revisions.

Mardi Gras Lady #15 - $300.00

24" X 24" Mixed medium on board. This Mardi Gras lady may be for sale at a later date. I am currently painting with the intention of entering a couple of competitions. Typically the paintings entered for competition must be for sale. So until I know for sure what's going where I must hold off on selling these. She is the first of my attempts to make the leap from my watercolor mardi gras images to an acrylic/oil painting. Quite the challenge! I am first attempting them on 24" X 24" but, the next leap will be 48" X 48". I just love standing in front of a huge canvas of color!

Poppy in a Square#3 - SOLD

24" X 24" Mixed Medium on Board. ok. So now I'm getting somewhere! You cannot even begin to imagine the depth of this painting. oh...so... sexy! All of the layers of glazes in different mediums. Just looks so rich and vibrant. You really cannot see it in the photograph because the oils are reflecting so much. You'll just have to run by the studio and see for yourself. I am liking where this going! I just may have to work the weekend....

Flower Vase #5 sketch - $50.00

5.25 X 7.5" Mixed Medium on 100% cotton paper. I am currently working on a REALLY REALLY MIXED mixed medium piece. Combining charcoal and acrylics with glazes and then... when that's dry work in oils. Needless to say... I have to let the first medium dry a day before adding the next. So, you get to see another of my sketches. I really love a challenge. I wonder if once I get this - thing - figured out that I'm trying to "break through" to... if I'll get bored and want to do something else? You think? How does that Rodrigue keep painting that same blue dog?

Grande Egrets - $500.00

48" X 48" Acrylic on Board. I am struggling and struggling to make acrylic on canvas or board have the spontaneity of my watercolors. and I want to work big! I'm moving on to a different image... perhaps a huge mardi gras lady or a flower. Keep watching... I may surprise you with something completely different. I'm determined to have a breakthrough over here.

Flower Vase #4 sketch - $50.00

5.5" X 7.5" Mixed Medium on 100% cotton. Had to go to a chamber function this afternoon and so could not finish the huge painting I'm working on. One of my earlier sketches will have to do. It's not sold! You can buy it if you like.

Big Rooster - Being Painted Over

48" X 48" Acrylic on Board. Another in my farm animal series. I may go back into these and edit color or texture as I get into the series to make them more cohesive. I am also learning as I go and like some of the newer techniques, but missing some of my old beautiful mistakes. I'm just going to keep after it and see where it takes me. Face detail. These paintings are so huge I think you miss the detail NOT seeing them close up. The layered strokes are gorgeous.
You just have to see it next to a piece of furniture for scale.

Big Brown Dog Hung

Big Brown Dog - No Longer Exist

48" X 48" Acrylic on Board. What a rush to paint this big! I just love it. I'm including a hung one so you can imagine the size of this painting. The brush strokes are very reminiscent of my pastels from long ago.

Brown Dog - $50.00

5" X 5" Acrylic on Board. This dogs name was actually "Brown Dog" and he had the most beautiful under bite. Very proud of his smile. I liked him.

Willy's House - $50.00

5" X 5" Acrylic on Board. Just opposite the Water Hole and hidden behind the fence and a bit of wooded area you can see Willy's House. I have fond memories of hiking down the trails, bails of hay sitting about, just like a Monet painting... heading to Willy's house.

The Watering Hole - $50.00

5" X 5" Acrylic on Board. This was a gorgeous watering spot for the cows at the farm. Hey! I don't think I mentioned that while I was away the "Swamp Gardens Closing" painting made the front page of the Morgan City newspaper.

Biddy and the Barn - $50.00

5" X 5" Acrylic on Board. Yea... we did a whole bunch of just sitting and looking and listening, too. Bbbbbbuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Mooooooooooooo. Rrrrrrrrrrrruf.

The Cow - $50.00

5" X 5" Acrylic on Board. Even with all the hiking, swimming, bbq'ing and playing cards, I did manage a few moments to actually sketch my surroundings.
