11X15 watercolor on cotton paper. Spent a spontaneous afternoon in New Orleans with the wonderful Heidi, who's studio is in the new Studio at Colton. If you're in New Orleans you've got to stop and check out how these artists in many areas of study have taken over this charming old school and converted it to basically an art school. They are dedicated to bringing art to the ninth ward. Incredible!
I only showed this one piece in the student show. (as I have a showroom featuring the rest of my work) I worked all week on a series of clay jewelry and featured this turquiose piece on the finally finished bust of the lady with the fleur de li dress on. She came out kind of cool. I love her! and have since created another bust... perhaps to be finished for the next show.
Well. It's been awhile. The studio was crazy busy preparing for the student show and Rhythm on the River, which will be going on for another three weeks. You are welcome to stop by the studio on these friday nights for a refreshment and live music. The pitchers in the photo are pieces done by first time students! and there very first pieces! I am expecting more from the students, and finding that they are meeting the challenge. I am a proud teacher. The next student show/live music event will be held at the last Rhythm on the River on May 29th. It is loads of fun, so please stop by.
