Terrier1 - $50.00
4"X6" Acrylic on 100% cotton paper. That's terrier, not terror. I've been working on my miniature dog series. This is a friends dog. She sent me a photo to see what I could do with it. Let me know which one you like best. If you have a dog you would like me to paint next, email a pict and if it inspires me, I might do it. I'm not sure what I'm selling the original paintings for yet. I'm still trying to work out just how long one takes. As you can see... I felt compelled to do three of this rascal before I felt I like what I see. I'm actually torn between two of them. What's your vote? I will post a poll.

Weimaranerir - SOLD
4" X 6" Mixed Medium on 100% cotton paper. This beautiful creature came walzing into the studio with his mother. I'm keeping these original paintings until I get a series done of them... and thinking of posting and selling prints of various breeds of dogs. I'm really liking this fellow! I've just got to share how wonderful these look in a frame. I think I'll do that.

Arnold - NFS
4" X 6" Mixed Medium on archival paper. After a long day of left brain activity, I had to drag myself to my paints to get a painting done. Mixing the paints on the pallette... seeing the brush strokes hit the paper... having Arnold come back to life before my eyes... did a lot to lift my spirits. It's a good way to end the day. Have a great night. Repost - I couldn't help myself... I had to go back into this painting and add some more color.

Quaker1 - $50.00
4" X 6" Mixed Medium on Archival Paper. I wanted to share these wonderful sketches of my quaker parrot. His name is Rufus. Since my bedroom has a bird theme, I thought I would paint some small paintings of him to hang. I found some incredible frames that were 4" X 6" and so painted him to fit. I wanted the paintings to match the colors in the room, so I painted the backgrounds first in the matching colors and then sketched and painted the bird. I think I'm on to something here. I've been searching for the spontanaity of my sketchbooks and I think this may be a direction toward that. Enjoy!

Mardi Gras Indian - $100.00
11X14" Mixed Medium on 100 cotton paper. I've got lots of Mardi Gras things happening this week, so thought I'ld post Mardi Gras images. I guess people in the rest of the world don't realize that we plan for Mardi Gras all year long. It's quite a time consuming venture putting on a Ball and Parade. This was inspired by the Mardi Gras Indian Krewes in New Orleans. I just love the extensive use of feathers. Very impressive sight to see.
Mardi Gras Lady #14 - SOLD
11" X 14" Mixed Medium on 100% cotton paper. Hey everyone. Sorry about not posting last night but the internet was down. So this painting was done yesterday. This painting was done for the Krewe of Galatea, and will go up for auction Friday night. The rest of the week will be spent on small flowers commissioned by one of my patrons. Thank you everyone that participated in the fundraising. I believe I made enough money to order my roll of paper and a new package of the 22 X 30 paper. It'll be another week of smaller flowers with the person who requested flowers having first dibs on the ones she wants. Have a great week!

Lil Flower in a Square5 - SOLD
approx. 7.5" X 7.5" Mixed Medium on 100% cotton paper. This is the fifth in a series of seven that I've done this week raising money for paper. I would like to thank all the participants who have bought paintings from me this week. I have the money I need to order the paper!! Yea!! When it comes in you'll be seeing some BIG things again. I'm also working on some new block prints of the New Orleans colorful row houses. It will be a couple of weeks before you will actually see anything from that... as it is quite a time extensive process carving and then printing the block prints. I have this idea to actually take five of the row houses and print them side by side on a long sheet of paper... say 44.5 X 12"... I'm very excited to see that in a finished state. I'll be posting three of the miniature flowers in a square to get me through the weekend. Have a great one! Oh! I may start showing my art in the alley next door at Jo'Jo's on Friday nights. Look for me there! Since I will not be checking this post till Monday these three flowers will be $20.00 through the weekend and going up after that.

Terror 2 - $65.00
Thursday, April 3, 2008
Terror 1 - $65.00
5" X 5" Acrylic on Board. In these past three images I have been using headline news stories as subject matter for testing out acrylic on these very small boards. I will use these small paintings as sketches for larger ones. You are basically looking at my painters sketch book. I am constantly asking myself what am I doing and why am doing it. I think after reading some of these "top headline stories" and feeling it's impact on my spirit... I know more now... why... I paint flowers... and other beautiful things. There is so much malice going on in the world that is too much sometimes to delve into. With the high impact of the media.. everywhere... it nice to just be "hit" with a flower.
