Sue's Bar - $100.00

Watercolor on white paper. I was on a roll so stopped by Sue's Take a Chance and took a chance at a sketch. This is interesting because I am actually sketching in the dark and cannot see color or my sketch very well. Has a good feeling of a bar. The downside is my sketchbook now smells of smoke. Yuck. I've got a few new ideas from this.

Zora's Kitchen - $100.00

Watercolor on Yellow paper. Just hanging out watching my good friend cook. Always a relaxing time in Zora's Kitchen.

What a gorgeous morning. The skies are so blue and it's not too cold to outdoors to sketch. I finally got to use my new nifty watercolor field pack that I ordered. For those of you who don't already know, this is my home.

Morning Coffee - $50.00

9" X 12" Watercolor on Yellow paper. I reeeeaaaallly want to go outside and paint my house before I take down the Christmas wreaths and redecorate them for Mardi Gras. That will happen this weekend. But... it was just too chilly this morning to tear myself away from my hot cup of coffee. So. I painted that. I'm getting a good response from this kind of watercolor sketch, though... it is just killing me to not have my bold black lines included. I'll keep struggling without the lines as it forces me to see in values better. But, I may have to get some immediate gratification and do some with black lines, too. Have a great weekend!

Christmas Tree - $50.00

9" X 12" Watercolor on Paper - It's January again and things are starting to slow down... just a bit. November and December are just crazy in the retail business. Not to mention, I've been teaching pottery classes, which has brought a whole new energy to the studio. I think the neatest people take pottery classes! I also sold tons of jewelry in December. This year I created a new fleur de li pendant and sold about 80 of them. Every single one is gone! I've had request to make more of them and am going to extend the line to some other imagery. (Got an idea here). I took a five day watercolor workshop with Judi Betts. Do a google for her name. She is very talented and just a complete inspiration. She sketches on different colored paper and is capable of capturing to much information with just the very minimal of lines. So.. I'm taking a step back to my past and forcing myself to sketch again... hoping to also be able to capture imagery in a very different spontaneous way. Bare with me as I sketch? Lord knows what? day by day. These sketches are not meant to be sold. Of course as I get better... you might just want one. They are going to be more of a journal and exercise for me. Some days may be better than others. So Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy Mardi Gras! Can't wait to hear what you all have been up to.
