And then came the rain 2

17" X 22.5" Pastel on 100% cotton paper. Redoing some of my sketches bigger to see what happens. Still having a grand time with the pastels. Still working up pricing on this, as it may go into the festival competition.

Wild Flower #10 - $50.00

7.5" X 7.5" Pastel on 100% cotton paper. I'm really having a great time doing these pastels. They're really again test for bigger paintings... studies in color and line. It's time for me to start preparing the entries for the Shrimp and Petroleum Festival. And clean up this place for the fireworks party. I have some great work I could enter just from doing this blog. But, I think I may redo a couple of pieces to fit some preexisting frames hanging around the studio. We shall see...

NOT TO SCALE!

I thought it would be fun to see these two flowers blown up huge and hanging over the couch. If I could manage to capture the spontenaity of the lines on a larger scale I think it would be fabulous.

Wild Flower #8- $50.00

7.5" X 7.5" pastel on 100% cotton paper. This ones very nice, too.

Wild Flower #7- $50.00

7.5" X 7.5" pastel on 100% cotton paper. This may be my favorite. I struggled and struggled with three different flower images... and just couldn't get it right. I would rub off the image again and again. Starting over and over. Every time I rubbed the image off it left a little of something in the background. I finally just simply did this flower and border and that was that. I like it.

Wild Flower #6- $50.00

7.5" X 7.5" pastel on 100% cotton paper.

Wild Flower #5- $50.00

7.5" X 7.5" chalk pastel on 100% cotton paper. ok... this is getting simpler. I'm kind of liking what's going on here.

Wild Flower #4 - $50.00

7.5" X 7.5" Pastels on 100% cotton paper. Continuing with the pastel flower series. This is the last one I did using oil pastels. I am moving to regular chalk pastel to see what happens. Still trying to simplify the essence of the flower.

Wild Flowers Hung

I just love decorating with my flowers.

Wild Flower #3 - SOLD

7.0\5" X 7.5" pastels on 100% cotton paper.

Wild Flower #2 - SOLD

7.5" X 7.5" pastels on 100% cotton paper. Another of my test flowers. Making up for lost blogging. I will go up on these flowers later. Grab em while there hot!

Wild Flower #1 - $50.00

7.5" X 7.5" Pastel on 100% cotton paper. We had a great time last night at the Marriot. Thank you everyone for showing up! Very nice indeed. I am doing a series of test flowers in pastels. I think my brain is trying to dissect what makes a flower-as in what is it about a flower that is so exciting and wonderful to look at. Perhaps hoping to take the flower to another level of thinking.

If Rufus was a Fish - $100.00

15" X 5.5" Mixed Medium on 100% cotton paper. Hey! I've got air conditioning! Hurray! I've been very very busy entering competitions and preparing for the show tomorrow. Since I will be out of town I will not be posting tomorrow. Hopefully, after that we can get back on a regular schedule. I have had fun creating these last two fish.. though, I am much desiring to get back into big paintings. I think I've sold almost every small flower in a square... maybe I'll do some more of those to make a few bucks. See you at the Marriot!

Doodle Fish - SOLD

15" X 5.5" Mixed Medium on 100% cotton paper.
Hey everybody. I miss you! and I miss doing my painting a day. NOPE! ac's still not fixed. It was scheduled to happen Friday morning and then... KASPLASH! Did we get some rain! and I mean all day long. At least it was cooler in here, and honestly I'm getting kind of used to it. I still can't get myself to open up oils and turpentine to do a huge painting. I decided I would just do one of my favorite things and doodle. I managed to enter another competition this week, but I don't want to say anything more... so I don't jinx it. (cross those fingers and say a prayer) Have a great weekend!

sorry guys.

Yes! I'm alive and I'm ok. But, the blogspot is acting up. Also, I have given in to the heat. The overcast and rain has lifted and just left it sweltering hot in here. Too hot to do it all. The AC should be in first thing in the morning - crossing fingers - and all should be back to normal. I've have to do a few days of double doses. Thanks for all concerned. I can rest assured that if some terrible thing happened to me all alone in my home... people would start asking why I haven't posted a blog. Love you all!

Birds Over the Shrimp House - $50.00

6.25" X 9.375" - Mixed medium 100% cotton. This is actually a weird size because it is not square. I had painted a border around it, but then just cut part of it out.. it was too much. I actually like the way I kept bits of the border where I decided it needed to be. I'm painting these sketches really fast because of the heat. It is just too hot to take on something huge. I think I actually like some of the spontaneousness of what is happening when I don't have time to over think things. I want to mention a couple of things. First of all please notice that I have been adding my tile line to it's own blog, (by request) which is linked to this blog. Go check out my tiles. I will be posting more as the days go on. or you can just go straight over to www.atchafalayarivertile.blogspot.com to see them. I also would like to mention that we have gone over the 10,000 marker of views to my site. Thanks everyone for looking and telling your friends to look. It really means a lot to me.

And then came the rain - $50.00

7.5" X 11.25" Mixed medium on 100% cotton paper. The came down today because of the storm in the Gulf. It brought with it some wonderfully cool air. Of course I have the doors wide open with the fan blowing in. (still the ac drama) Rufus (the bird) was so excited. He kept saying... "taking a bath... taking a bath" and "all wet... all wet". We stood in the door for awhile and enjoyed. It actually cooled down the studio enough for me to get in a full days work.

Air Conditioning Springs New Life

12" X 4.5 Mixed Medium on 100% cotton paper.
No. It is not fixed yet. But, I can imagine...
